In the exclusive world of luxury yacht building, it is all about quality, durability and appearance and exactly the same applies to cruise ships. Using our silicone products, you can kill several birds with one stone.

A number of advantages of the use of silicone products such as silicone profiles, silicone seals, silicone rings and silicone moulded parts:

EPDM rubber is traditionally used for door/window and hatch seals of ships but the use of an aluminium coloured silicone product from Siltech gives a much more durable, attractive and maintenance-free result. Resistant to weathering, ozone, salt, adhesives, water repellent and fire retardant. An aesthetic advantage of the use of silicone products is that they are available in all colours; for a door/window or hatch with a coloured silicone seal, the results are much nicer than a black EPDM seal. Moreover EPDM rubber is only available in black and grey and dries out over the years, this having the adverse effect that the seal no longer does its job! Air and/or condensation comes inside, which you cannot have with an expensive yacht!

This is not all, because:
The silicone profiles from Siltech may be vulcanised to windows. This way we can tailor-make your sealing so that you never have any more leaks! You only have to fit them into the rebate and Bob’s your uncle! With this you have a guaranteed air and water tight seal without the risks and downtime of having to mitre cut and glue together the silicone profiles/strips. That is not the case when Siltech supplies a completely vulcanised custom-made profile.

Our products:
Silicone profiles / seals in almost all RAL colours with a choice from many profiles without tooling costs; also according to your drawing and as desired from 20° to 80° Shore A, other hardnesses are possible on request.
Silicone cords in almost all RAL colours from 20° to 80° Shore A other hardnesses are also possible LSR Liquid Silicone Rubber for complex moulded parts and for large batch production using the latest machines; for this, a drawing in STEP/3D format is necessary (Injection Moulding)

Good to know:
For sealing the inner partitions of the air chambers (the airtight compartments that prevent the ship sinking) of many modern cruise ships, the silicone profiles are the same as those from Siltech!
In the past year Siltech has been able to develop silicone in a particularly attractive aluminium colour!
